Important | 2024-03-05

Nearly 200 colleagues from all over Europe gathered online and in Brussels on 28 February 2024, to discuss the way forward for a European legal instrument.

During the event, key stakeholders and policy-makers reflected on the topic. Olga Wessels, Head of the ECIU Brussels’ Office and coordinator of the ESEU-project reflects: “The event brought together many different perspectives to the topic of a European legal status for alliances of higher education institutions, with a clear joint conclusion on the high need for such an instrument.”

Implemented in one year, the ESEU-project (European Status for ECIU University) investigated the possibilities for the design of a European legal status to overcome obstacles in the transnational collaboration of higher education institutions.

Partners of the project were members of ECIU University and authorities of EU member countries, including the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports of the Republic of Lithuania. KTU representatives Vytautė Juška, Reda Nausėdaitė, Sandra Antanavičienė and Toma Šilinaitė-Subačienė worked on the project and prepared the main ESEU document together with a dedicated team.
